Our Values – I Believe In My Voice

BEING HEARD – EMPOWERING CHILDREN’S VOICE

EMPOWERING IDENTITY & WELLBEING… DEVELOPING THEIR SELF-EFFICACY THROUGH THE  USE OF THEIR VOICE

For children, facilitation and scaffolding during play and other routine times will be the most effective way for change and growth. Among other ways, children will be empowered with their voice through opportunities to assert their INDEPENDENCE (i.e. so they can do things for themselves). More importantly, they will be given opportunities to develop their SELF-EFFICACY SKILLS (or SELF-AGENCY SKILLS).

AS A RESULT…

Children will realise that THEY HAVE A VOICE, and that their voice – words, thoughts and ideas – can and has the right to be listened to and respected by others, both adults and peers.

A Voice Heard + A Strong Social-Emotional Wellbeing = A Confident Identity

Independence        +           self-efficacy / self-agency

(I can do things for myself)          +              (I can make decisions and choices for myself)

LEADS TO KNOWING THAT…

I have a VOICE. I have control and can take control over my life.

I can and actually do influence things around them – through the decisions and choices I make – and these decisions will affect my present life.

+

High Self-Esteem + Self-efficacy

LEADS TO…

An accurate SELF-CONCEPT.

That is, a positive social-emotional wellbeing.

Versus an inaccurate self-concept that tells oneself that: “I can’t…”, “I’m not…”.

=

A confident IDENTITY

An acceptance of oneself as ‘who I am’.

Seeing oneself as valued and then knowing that they are valued, no matter what.

When children VALUE themselves and build a strong SOCIAL-EMOTIONAL WELLBEING they build an accurate self-concept.

Your VALUE = Self-worth/esteem

VALUE cannot be bought, earned or devalued. You are already valuable. All you have to do is REALISE your value.

This empowerED VOICE will show children that their voice is valued. This voice developing their self-worth/esteem.

As a result, this will build children’s EMOTIONAL-WELLBEING and shape their SELF-IDENTITY of ‘who I am’.

‘Who I am’ can’t be devalued.

I AM… special, precious, loved, wonderful, creative… no matter what!

No matter what other people say about me or to me, what experiences I’ve gone through…

MY VALUE / SELF-WORTH DOES NOT CHANGE! The belief in myself is what changes my views of my value.

I can believe in myself, BUT
If someone believes along WITH ME and IN ME
Then I definitely know I can be…
EMPOWERED. BUILT. SHAPED.
Time to reflect…

What does this all mean for children?
